Diamond Court: extra care apartments
We were contracted by Kitto Construction to design a single building containing 20 no. affordable C2 Extra Care apartments for Housing 21. The design brief was set by Housing 21’s mission to provide Extra Care for older people of modest means. The project included external landscaping, parking and refuse storage.
We proposed a stepped design to break up the mass of the four storey building and enhance the street scene achieved planning permission.
After receiving full planning permission with support form the Local Authority, we went on to develop a full technical package for construction, followed by stage 5 services whilst the building was on site.
Designed to be robust and low maintenance, the high embodied carbon of the masonry building will be mitigated overtime by its longevity.
