Dorothy House Hospice Day Care and Education wings

This project extends an existing hospice complex in north west Wiltshire with new Day Care and Education wings. The Day Care wing is an energy efficient timber framed pavilion, set at right angles to the stone Edwardian building, with breath taking views across the rolling countryside.

The project was granted planning permission despite being located in the Green Belt, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Conservation Area. The Planning Officer noted a refreshing change from poor copies of period architectural styles and approval was confirmed by the Secretary of State.

The building was formally opened by Princess Anne and was awarded a BBC and RIBA Award for Best Public Building.
