Corn Street Hotel

The project was for the conversion of Nos. 37-39 and 41 Corn Street into a boutique hotel [100 rooms]. The design and ethos of this hotel would seek to reflect Bristol’s reputation as a creative and environmentally conscious city.

Our proposals for Big Sur Properties converted two office buildings, one from the 1930s with a 1960s office building next door, into a 126 room modern boutique hotel, complete with foyer bar and restaurant sited on the ground floor.  The proposed full height top-lit atrium through the later building provided the “wow”  factor, terminating with a glazed lantern at roof level.

The facade of the Grade II listed 1930's building by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott would be restored, and the existing precast concrete facade of the 1960s building clad with Portland stone.

Unfortunately the buildings were sold on during the planning application period and a more basic refurbishment as offices took place.
